Bobby L. Jones , 87, of Oak Hill, WV passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.Born April 09, 1931, in Worth, WV, he was the son of the late Sam and Agnes Ernestine Jones.
A dedicated and extremely hard worker, Bobby spent his career as a coal preparation plant manager working for United Pocahontas Coal Company in Crumpler and Royal Smokeless Coal Company in Thurmond. He was a proud member of the UMWA.
Bobby will be remembered for a multitude of reasons but especially for his love of his family and his faithfulness and devotion to his Christian faith. He had a knowledge and understanding of the teachings of Jesus Christ and had a desire to share that knowledge with the hope of bringing others to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. He will also be remembered for his generous heart. He had a sincere desire to care for and help anyone in need. His calling later in life was to assist people of the Jewish faith return to Israel and provided endless contributions to that effort.
The Jones family extends special thanks to Rev. Lum Toney, Bishop Rob Doolittle, the Sanger family and Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
Bobby and his loving wife of 66 years, Sylvia, were blessed with a large and devoted family which included two daughters, Diane Bailey and husband, Kenny, of Crumpler and Leslie Nunn and husband, David, of Hampstead, MD; three sons, Steven Jones of Oak Hill, Bobby Jones and wife, Trish, of Princeton and Rick Jones and wife, Cheryl, of Lynchburg, VA. He will be missed by ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren as well as several "honorary" grandchildren that both Sylvia and Bobby welcomed into their home and hearts with love and care.
His much loved wife, Sylvia Marie Eldreth Jones; granddaughter, Melissa Leigh Jones; brothers, Buddy Jones, Bill Jones and Sam Jones, Jr.; sisters, Helen Watson, Mae Baldwin and Juanita Taylor; and lastly his faithful Min-Pin, Skippy have all preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 6:00 to 8;00 PM.
Vivistion and services will be on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Lum Toney and Bishop Rob Doolittle officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
