"Dennie Share Morgan, Sr. was born on a hot summer day, Friday, August 9, 1946, in North Springs, West Virginia. At the age of 79, he was called to his eternal home by the Lord on March 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Dennie was the second of three sons born to the late Litesell and Zina Morgan. A ray of sunshine as a child, he loved playing sports and was so intelligent that he was double-promoted twice during his school years. Dennie was also a proud graduate of Baileysville High School. It was during his time there that he met a beautiful black-haired girl named Frankie Short. Their first date was the result of him winning a chance coin toss. After that first date, he wasted no time in spending every free moment he could with the person he would ultimately marry and spend the rest of his life loving and adoring. After graduating from Baileysville High School, he would attend Bluefield Business College before returning home to Wyoming County. He worked for a few years with the Division of Highways before becoming a coal miner. He would work at several mines over the years, but his mining years were primarily spent in the Kopperston mines. Dennie was a proud coal miner and loved the camaraderie that mining coal brought to his life. Dennie is survived by his two children: Sherri Honaker (Chuck) of Scarbro, West Virginia, and Dennie S. Morgan, Jr. (Annie) of Crab Orchard, West Virginia. He loved Chuck and Annie as if they were his own. Dennie was easy to find if you needed him. On weekday mornings, you could usually locate him drinking coffee or golfing with his buddies at Clear Fork Valley Golf Course. When a West Virginia University football or basketball game was on, he could be found at home, nervously pacing, sometimes yelling, sometimes cheering, but always watching his Mountaineers. On Sundays, he was a faithful Deacon and member of Oceana First Baptist Church, where he always sat in the same seat — the first row on the right side, closest to the door. He loved his church family dearly. And if there was a family function or birthday, you could count on him being at every single one of these events. He truly loved each of his grandbabies and never missed an opportunity to check in on them or brag about them. He is survived by several grandchildren: Tabetha Soberdash of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Harrison (Clover) Morgan (Alyssa) of Richmond, Virginia, Travis Honaker of St. Louis, Missouri, Peyton Morgan of Oceana, West Virginia, Trista Honaker, Reese Morgan, and Isobel (Izzy) Morgan. He also shared a close bond with his two brothers, whom he loved to hunt, visit, and spend time with. He considered them his closest friends. He was predeceased by his older brother, Ronald (Hazel) Morgan, and is survived by his younger brother, Greg Morgan. Dennie had several close relationships with his nephews and especially enjoyed attending races and car shows with Toby Morgan and Tommy Morgan. Dennie spent a lifetime loving his Lord, his family, his wife, and his life! He was funny. He could fix anything. He loved seeing new things and travelling. He was insightful. He was a good listener. He was a good giver of advice. He was also a good golfer who shot better than his age several times and even played in the State Amateur golf championship. He was a good friend. Dennie was a lot of things to a lot of people. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Frankie. He is now celebrating with his mom and dad, his grandma, his brother Ronald, Pierce and Jesse Short, and many others who went before him. He is now with his lord. And though he is now deeply missed, it is not goodbye- it is merely, see you later! For those wanting to celebrate Dennie’s life, Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Oceana First Baptist Church, Oceana, West Virginia, with Pastor Jerry Cook officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from noon until the time of services at that same location. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, West Virginia."
