"CONNEAUT - Roscoe M Clyburn, age 86, of Conneaut, died Sunday afternoon, January 11, 2004 , at his residence."Roscoe was born on March 31, 1917 in Affinity, WV, the son of the late W. T. and Clara (Walker) Clyburn. He attended grade school and later went to work, for over 40 years, as a coal miner for the Consolidated Coal Company of West Virginia.
"He was a member of the United Miners Workers Union and of the First Baptist faith. He has lived in the Conneaut area for the past 20 years, coming from Mullins, WV. He enjoyed gardening and carpenter work and remodeling the house.
"Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents; Rose Ballard, his first wife; two sons, Ted and John; and three brothers, James, Thomas and Henry.
"He is survived by his wife, Lola Mae (Scruggs) Clyburn; three sons, J. William Clyburn of Dayton, OH, Joseph Clyburn of Columbus and Douglas Curry of FL; two step-sons, Wilbert E. and Margaret Robinson of Conneaut and Robert and Mary Belcher of Sophia, WV; one step-daughter, Mary and Oakley Blevins of Beckley, WV; a sister, Grace Howe of Burgeon, NY, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
