"Elmer R. Austin, 90, of Navarre, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Altercare of Navarre."He was born on Sept. 5, 1918 in rural Wythe County, VA to the late Sanders and Amanda Austin. He was employed for 30 years as a furnance operator for Republic Steel, retiring in 1983.
"He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Navarre Moose Lodge # 2471 and Navarre VFW Post # 5047. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Austin in 1989, to whom he was married for 44 years and four sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.
"Mr. Austin is survived by his sons, Richard Austin of Cleveland, OH, Stephen Austin of St. Louis, MO; daughters, Sandra (Dale) Davis of Navarre, Joyce Duffley of Canton, Elizabeth Gray of Canton, Amy Austin of Massillon; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Rev. Janice Strawn officiating.

"George Edward Hager, 76, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV with his daughter by his side. Born May 14th, 1949 in Princeton WV George was a man who wore many hats. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, & friend. He was an electrician & fire boss in the mines for 37 years. He was an avid fox hunter who lived for those barks most of his life. He was a farmer who bailed the first round roll of hay in Wyoming county & he was so proud of that. He was a member of The Well in Lynco for many years and adored his church family. To know George really was to love him. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips. He has left an imprint on everyone blessed to have met him. George was at his happiest when staying busy with his boy, Henry. He loved Jesus and “his babies” unconditionally. He is preceded in death by his wife Georgia Hager, his father and mother Kenneth and Naomi Shields Hager, and a granddaughter Nikki Dixon. Those left to cherish his memory are his children Brittany and Henry Armstrong, Melissa (DJ) Lester, and Stephanie Dixon, grandchildren Paige Toler, Piper Toler, Jorja Armstrong, and Anika Armstrong, great grandchildren Charli Sellards, Chevy Sellards, Araya Graham, his sister and brother in laws, Norma and Russell Workman, and Tommy (Charlotte) Brown, special friends Ora Browning, Thomas Francis, and Alfred Hensley. He will be deeply missed by all of his hounds and a host of other loving family and friends. "Georgia Gale Brown Hager, 71, of Clear Fork, WV passed away unexpectedly enroute to Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV on Friday, November 28, 2025. She was born on January 10, 1954 in Sunhill, WV a daughter of the late Edward and Truby Brown. Georgia was a 1971 graduate of Baileysville High School and a 1989 Cosmetology graduate of the Wyoming County Technical Center. She attended church for many years where she loved to sing and play the organ. Her love for her family was never ending and she had a sparkle in her eyes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband of many years, George Hager, a brother Tommy (Charlotte) Brown, a daughter Melissa (DJ) Lester, three grandchildren: her oldest, Brittany (Henry) Armstrong whom she helped raise and loved as her own daughter, Paige Toler and Piper Toler, three great granddaughters Jorja Rayne, Anika Rose and Charli Leigh-Anne, a great grandson Chevy Edward Chase, her lifelong friend who she loved like a sister Retha Cline, and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 5th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Jeff Green officiating.
