"Peggy Lou Cole-Mitchell, 68, of Oceana passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at her residence following a short illness."Born June 8, 1941 at Sun Hill, she was the daughter of the late Masil Cole (1910-2002) and Ruby A. Blankenship-Cole (1915-1984).
"Peggy was a member of the Oceana United Methodist Church where she was a member of the women's circle. She enjoyed gospel music, sewing and always put others first.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde H. Cole (1939-1987) and Harold James Cole (1948-1950).
"Survivors include her husband, Gary Mitchell (B. 1939) of Oceana whom she married on April 29, 1961 in Oceana, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1961, Page 53, Application Date: April 15, 1961); two sons, Gary Scott Mitchell and his wife, Bonnie of Harlington, MT and David Robert Mitchell of Oceana; five brothers, Paul Ray Cole of Charlotte, NC, Grady Cole and his wife, Carolyn of Little River, SC, Jerry Cole and his wife, Jewell of Lake Lure, NC, Clay Monroe Cole and his wife, Donna of Clear Fork, David Cole and his wife, Kendra of Boonsboro, MD; one sister, Freda May Cole-Gilley and her husband, Kenneth of Clear Fork; one grandson, Gary Scott Mitchell, II of Hope Mills, NC; one step-grandson, John Wills of Utah.
