"Shirley (Cooper) Coleman Woody, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 20, 2025, in her hometown of Yukon, West Virginia."Shirley was born November 16, 1942 in Slate Creek, VA a daughter of the late Joe and Lucy Baker Cooper. Shirley lived a life centered around family and service to others. She found deep fulfillment in spending time with her loved ones and caring for those around her. Her generous spirit was especially evident at Christmas, when she filled her beautifully decorated home with love, laughter, and the joy of family. Shirley also devoted much of her time to volunteering at The Good Shepherd Mission for those in need, helping those in need with kindness and compassion. She loved to travel and go on cruises, embracing the chance to see new places and make lasting memories. When spending time in the mountains she called home, Shirley found joy in nature, especially bird-watching, always making sure to keep an eye out for her favorite bright red cardinals.
"Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Coleman; her parents, Joe and Lucy Cooper; and her siblings, Sherman Cooper, Thurman Cooper, and Maxie Burch.
"Shirley is survived by her daughters Delores Coleman, Tammy (Rob) Breen, Gwendolyn (Brian) Nowak, and Shannon (Scott) Pendergrass. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany (Jeffrey) Kidwell, Daniel (Rocío) Breen and their baby on the way, Thomas Scott Bowers, Leah (Robert) Nowak Planek, Olivia (Jay) Phillips, Andrew (Isabella) Nowak, and Michael Nowak. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Coleman and Kyleigh Cook. Shirley is survived by her siblings Ermel (Sid) Boyce, Ernie Cooper, Jean (Jennifer) Cooper, Josie (Donald) Woody, and Troy Cooper. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own, including Crystal Hughes and Amy Lynch, as well as countless other family members and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock, Sunday, October 26, 2025 with Pastor Stevie White officiating at the Flatwoods Church of Christ at 7032 Compton Mountain Road, Pilgrims Knob, VA. Buril will follow in the Mullins/Davis Cemetery on Compton Mountain.
"Friends may visit with the family Saturday evening, October 25, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home, 13879 Rocket Boys Drive, War, WV. In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to her heart.

"Cheri Lea England, 59, of Welch, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025."Born September 16, 1966, in Welch, WV, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lewis Pierce and Janice Kirk Pierce.
"Cheri had a warm and lively spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She was a true people person—never met a stranger—and her energy lit up every room. Whether she was singing along to her favorite songs, catching an episode of The Price is Right, or watching sports with her family, Cheri always brought joy to those around her. She lived life fully, loved deeply, and laughed often. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
"In addition to her father, Cheri was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lewis Pierce and Mary Alice Hunley, and her maternal grandparents, Gaylord and Pearl Fleming Kirk.
"Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Janice Pierce of Princeton, WV; her daughters, Candace Burnette and husband David of Princeton, WV, and Terri Agovida and husband Raymart of Florida; her sisters, Denise Pierce of the home and Deanna Justice and husband Michael of Lerona, WV. She was a proud grandma to her grandchildren: Shawn and Jessie England, LillyAnn, Evan, and Axl Hayth. She also leaves behind her nephews Lewis Pertee, Harley Pertee, and Alex Justice; great-nephews Andrew and Aiden Pertee; and a host of other family and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
"Cheri’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unshakable bond with her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her big personality, and the joy she brought into the lives of others.
"Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 1 o’clock at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Virginia. Burial will follow. Family will serve as pallbearers.
