He was born on January 11, 1953 in Lilly Dale, WV a son of the late Leo and Monnie Kinser Spears. Stephen served in the United States Army National Guard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Brian Spears, daughter Jessica Spears, a baby born sleeping, a son Mickey Crouse, and a granddaughter Michelle Janssen. "Mickey Wayne Crouse, 53, of Matheny, WV, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his home following a short illness. He was born May 25, 1971, a son of the late Barbara Jean Bragg Crouse. Mickey loved to dig ginseng and watch Nascar during his spare time. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his sister Jessica Nutter and other family. He was of the Baptist faith, he was baptized along side his loving wife Heather Crouse on June 12, 2025. They were members of Joseph Baptist Church, Lynco, WV. Mickey and Heather shared 13 years together. Heather was also his caregiver and was by his side until the end, she was the love of his life. In addition to his wife, those left to cherish his memory include his father Steve Spears and Jane of Matheny, his mother and father-in-law Arland and Maxine Steele of Lynco, brother-in-law Brian Steele and Christy of Lynco, sister Kim Bragg Lafferty and Andy of Bassett, VA, Saprina Spears of Martinsville, VA, several nieces and nephews Derek Lafferty, Adrian Spears, and Tyler Juarez, all of Martinsville, VA, Christopher Nutter, Cole and Courtney Steele of Lynco, Candace Lafferty of Patrick Springs, VA, Destiny Spears of Martinsville, VA, Brandy Nutter of Oceana, and Courtney and Jeff Blankenship of Oceana, several great-nieces and great-nephews Phoenix Bowman, Zoey Lafferty, Da Kari Giles, Bentley and Audrey Spears, all of Martinsville, VA, and a host of extended family and all his beloved friends which Mickey loved very much. She was born on June 13, 1960 in Welch, WV a daughter of Florence Steele Bryant of Panther and the late Robert Byrant. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband Ricky Ted Goodman, a granddaughter Isabella Goodman, two sisters Sandra and Michelle, and a brother Bobby.
