"Surrounded by loved ones, Elizabeth S. O'Finan, 67, of Charleston WV, was called from this life on March 19, 2014 at Oak Ridge Center, in Charleston WV, after a short illness. Born on January 29, 1947 in Davy, West Virginia, Elizabeth was the daughter of Earl Lindsey Sizemore and Thelma Shelton Sizemore Marcus.
"During her career, Elizabeth worked as an Environmental Engineer for first Union Carbide and later Dow Chemicals at their South Charleston, West Virginia facility. She also worked as geologist and paleontologist for the Bureau of Land Management in Grand Junction, Colorado. While employed by the BLM, Elizabeth discovered a set of fossils that eventually led the creation of The Trail Through Time, a 1.5 mile hike through Western Colorado that showcases various paleontological discoveries and geological formations. She is a graduate of Big Creek High School, Mesa State College, and West Virginia College of Graduate Studies (Marshall University). Elizabeth was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Charleston.
"Elizabeth was preceeded in death in addition to her parents, by her brother Michael Marcus, and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Bokal and husband John of Endwell, New York, son, David McDarmont and wife Megan of Columbus, Ohio, , and grandsons, Nicholas and Noah McDarmont of Columbus OH; and granddaughters, Libby, Brooke, and Sydney of Endwell NY; sister, Donna Johnson and husband Lowell of Welch, West Virginia, nephew, Jason Boone; niece Erica Bailey, nephew-in-law Eddie; along with great-nephew, Landon Boone, and great-niece, Aubree Bailey, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
