"Lenord Carles Lester Sr., 80, of Welch, West Virginia, passed away on July 19, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 15, 1944, in Fanrock, WV, the son of the late Kenneth P. and Edner Ruth Lester. In addition to his parents, Lenord was preceded in death by his son, Lenord Carles Lester Jr. brothers, Lonnie and Larrie Lester and a sister, Lindia Lester. Lenord was known for his easy-going personality and contagious laugh. If you knew him, you know his favorite pastime was watching westerns on TV. He always assured us that he was watching the tv so it wouldn’t run out the door. He loved attending church and spending time outdoors whenever he could. Above all, he dearly loved his family–his “boys” found their way into nearly every conversation he had. Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, William “Bill” McKinley (Irene) Lester of Wise, VA, and Jonathan “John” Lee (Angie) Lester of Norton, VA grandsons William (Rachel) Lester of Duffield, VA, Kenny (Raven) Lester of Wise, VA, Cody (Lauren) Lester of Kingsport, TN, Thomas (Maddie) Mullins of Houston, TX, and Caden Lester of Wise, VA granddaughters Brittany (Donald) Lester Harding of Gate City, VA, Linda (Clint) Lester Slone of Tazewell, VA, Chasity Lester of North Carolina, and Katelyn (Morgan) Sturgill of Millville, NJ great-grandchildren Will, Eli, Eden, Sonovia, Ezekiel, Olivia, and Bennett. He is also survived by two loving brothers, Latham “Lake” (Terri Flight) Lester of Casanova, VA, and Leslie “Les” Lester of Front Royal, VA nieces, Suzanne and Becca, a nephew, Matthew, along with a host of other loving family and friends. His son, Bill, will deeply miss the annual February 2nd birthday call when Lenord would always ask with a chuckle, “Did you see your shadow?” A lighthearted tradition that spoke volumes about his warmth, humor, and the special bond they shared. A celebration of life will be held on July 26 at noon at Twin Falls Resort State Park at Shelter number 1 in Mullens, WV, in conjunction with the annual Lester Family Reunion. A graveside service will be arranged at a later date at the Lester Family Cemetery on Indian Creek Road in Welch, WV. In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Lester Family Cemetery, c/o Suzanne Lester Kline, 226 Little Sorrel Drive, Strasburg, VA 22657. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Zackery Mitchell, Tereasa West, Joann and Thomas Sizemore, and Leonard Sizemore for their unwavering friendship, kindness, and the loving care they gave throughout the years. "Walter Robert “Bobby” Grimmett, 53 of Tamcliff, WV, departed this life on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. He was born October 11, 1971 in Man, WV, a son of Lucille Goodman Kirk and the late Walter R. Grimmett, Sr. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Goldie Glandon Goodman and Alfred and Nida Walls Grimmett, step-father William Kirk, step-mother Bertha Brumfield Grimmett, his daughter and love of his life, Candice Lucille Grimmett, a brother Brian Grimmett, stepbrother Christopher Layne, Uncles Robert Onnie Goodman, Jr., Jason Huff, James Baldridge, Rusty Allen, Clarence Bailey and Lloyd Mullins, Aunts Deloris Lawrence, Virgie Bailey, Linda Lou Huff, Katherine Allen, Dottie Nelson Goodman, Carol Keene Goodman, Vicie “Sissy” Boone, Rip “Geraldine” Phillips, Bessie Parker, Betty Earnest and Virginia Blankenship, Nieces Darlena Lawrence and Susie May, Nephews Joe James Lawrence, Joey Mullins, Mark Hendricks and Roger Dale Blankenship. He was born February 2, 1947 in Welch, WV, the son of the late William “Bill” and Mary Womack Stafford. Billy Joe was a US Navy veteran, retired truck driver and a 1965 Oceana High School graduate. Survivors include his son Bryan Stafford and wife Melinda of Beckley, a sister Rosemary Elswick of Oceana, a nephew Shawn Stafford of Utah, and his two fur babies.
