"James Everett Cooley, 71, of Marytown, McDowell County, died Monday afternoon, November 22, 1965 in a Welch Hospital following an illness of five years. He was a retired miner and had resided in Marytown for the past 20 years."Born November 20, 1894 in Grayson County, Virginia he was a son of Henry Clay Cooley.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Owens Cooley; nine sons, Andy, Earston and William Cooley of Bassett, Va., Henry Cooley of Martinsville, Va., James Cooley, Jr. of Washington, D.C., Frank, Charles, Harry and Robert of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Hill of Norton, Va. and Mary Cooley of the home.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren."Today, November 24 at 2 p.m. at Twin Branch Community Church with burial in Big Jenny Cemetery near Davy. Rev. Buddy Cox will officiate.
