"NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. - Thelma 'Sis' Lockhart Honaker, 85, of the Baptist Valley section of North Tazewell, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Asbury Place in Wytheville, Va. following a lengthy illness.
"She was born in Valls Creek, and was a daughter of the late James Benjamin Lockhart and Martie Bowling Lockhart.
"She had made her home at Baptist Valley most of her life. She was a housewife and loving mother. She was employed at General Instrument until its closing. She was a member of the Church of God at Baptist Valley.
"She was the widow of the late Lon Buell Honaker. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Slaughter and infant Ann Nadine Honaker; infant great grandson, Samuel Ein Altizer and great granddaughter, Jessica Altizer; four sisters and eight brothers.
"Survivors include: Daughter: Brenda Poskas and husband Leon of Radford, Va.; sons: Billy Honaker and wife Hattie of Cedar Bluff, Va., Ed Honaker and wife Fern of Troutville, Va.; sister: Mrs. Ed 'Ruth' Jackson of Adria, Va.; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Tazewell, Va. with the Rev. Max Linkous and the Rev. Wayne White officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Brian Honaker, Kevin Honaker, Brett Honaker, Greg Poskas, Jeff Carr, Paul Bracken, Sam Altizer Jr. and James Marcrum.
