"Rev. Herman Lewis Kennedy, 67, of Paynesville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025 at his home. He was born on November 5, 1957 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Herman Lloyd and Marie Addair Kennedy. Lewis had pastored different churches and was loved spreading the word of God. He loved spending time with his grandbabies and doing carpentry work. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers Terry, Earl and Wayne Kennedy. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost 36 years, Donna Sue Steele Kennedy, a daughter Angel Kennedy of Paynesville, three sons Herman Lewis Kennedy, Jr. and wife Rachel of VA, Russell Kennedy of VA and Steven Kennedy and wife Ashley of Paynesville, a sister Francis Blankenship of Gary, a sister-in-law Pam Kennedy of Clear Fork, six grandchildren Jacob, Kristen, Mazie, Demi, Shaylee and Kaylee, and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, July 2nd at the Old Pathway Church, Ikes Fork, WV with Pastor James Cline, Rev. Johnny Brant and Rev. Wayne Kennedy officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Lewis Kennedy Family Cemetery, Paynesville, WV. Friends may gather with the family after 6 pm on Tuesday, July 1st at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. "

"James David “Cookie” Cook, 70 of Brenton, WV passed away Thursday morning, June 16, 2016 at the McGuire Veteran’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was a 1964 graduate of Pineville High School; and served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for numerous coal companies and was last employed with Big Justice Construction. A mechanic and handyman who enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. He would help anyone in need.

"Born March 8, 1946 in Gallipolis, OH, he was the son of the late Aaron Oley “Jack” Cook (1920-1990) and Patsy Marie Thomason-Cook (1927-2001). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Sally Miller (Deceased).

"Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Patsy Miller-Cook; a daughter, Tamela Cook-Whitt & husband John Whitt of Goodview, VA; and a son, Anthony Todd Cook & wife Heather Cook of Princeton, WV; grandsons, Jacob, Shane, Wyatt and Bryan; his brothers and their wives, Thomas "Tom" Cook & wife Diana Cook, Michael "Mike" L. Survivors include two sons Brian Jacob (Ashley) Dickens of OH and Michael Wayne Dickens of Mullens; two sisters Cynthia (Junior) Adkins of Herndon and Juanita (Thomas Sheppard) Billings of Matoka; a brother Thomas D. (Sherry) Billings, Jr. of Mullens; one grandchild Allison Rae Dickens; and a host of other loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held next week at the Camp Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Pierpoint, WV with Pastor Jerry McGrady and Pastor Teddy Billings officiating. She will be laid to rest with her mother in Pierpoint Cemetery, Pierpoint, WV. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV."
