"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Gene Green, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished member of the Friendship Association Church, who passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on October 21, 1946, to the late Arnold and Mae (Dixon) Green in Welch, WV. He was known for his kindness, generosity, strong work ethic and a deep passion for the outdoors whether fishing, hunting, camping or exploring the mountains of West Virginia. He loved nothing more than spending special time with his family. Bill was a member of the UMWA and worked 35 years for US Steel Pinnacle #50 as a welder and electrician."He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen (Riffe) Green, daughters Brenda Shumate and husband Terry of Pineville, WV and Barbara Green of Blacksburg, VA and grandchildren Jayen Parker Green and wife Meagan Smith of Christiansburg, VA and Michaela Faber and husband Trey of Charleston, WV. Gene is survived by brothers Ray and wife Cora, Larry and wife Evelyn, Bobby and wife Susan, and Terry and wife Carol. His memory will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, beloved in-laws and dear friends.
"A memorial service will be held at Evans-Calfee Funeral Services in Pineville, WV on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at noon. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 until the time of service. Pallbearers will include Rocky Smith, Chris Green, Jeremy Riffe, Mike Green, Phillip Riffe, Kevin Green and Ben Riffe. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Rocky Smith, a special brother-in-law, who assisted in his care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael J. "Carol Ann Coffey McKinney, 86, of Garwood, entered into Heaven January 30, 2025, following a long illness. Born March 5, 1938, she was the firstborn child of the late Clayton Ivory and Edith Leeomy Coffey. Carol attended Covel Missionary Baptist Church and Spruce Grove. She served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary, and treasurer. She enjoyed time with her church family. Carol worked at Wyoming General Hospital until it closed. She worked at Talon Manufacturing and Mullens Public Library until her retirement. She enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends. She shared her love of animals with her children and always had a family pet."In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her first husband – Curtis McKinney, and her second husband- Buren McKinney. Her son, Ronald Lee McKinney, and an infant daughter, Melanie Faith McKinney. Two grandchildren, William Curtis McKinney and Aaron Bradley Scott. Three sisters: Fredia McKinney, Linda Jolly, and Jerry Coffey. One infant brother, James Edward Coffey.
"Survivors include her children: Michael McKinney and wife Cathy, Sherman McKinney and wife O’Lisa, Terri Scott and husband Steve, Tamela Keaton and husband Charlie, and Melissa Lusk and husband Bryan. A daughter in law, Medina Richmond. One sister, Peggy McIntyre. Grandchildren: Regina McKinney, Megan McKinney, Preston McKinney, Jody Horton, Ronnie McKinney, Andrew Scott and wife Annie, Lindsay Pack and husband Travis, Curt Lusk, Bradley Lusk, and several step grandchildren. Great grandchildren: Gabby, Nate, Xander, Louren, Elisa, Maggie, Josie, Reed, Noah, Lillie, Penelope, Conan, Jacob, and Halie. Carol also leaves behind a large extended family including nieces, nephews, and cousins in Florida and across the country.
