"Tom Ezra Stacy, 73 of Raysal, WV passed away peacefully at his home June 6, 2026."Tom was born September 22, 1952 in Yukon, WV a son of Paul and Sarah (Belle) Thornsberry Stacy. He attended McDowell County Schools and graduated from Big Creek High School.
"After high school Tom proudly joined the United States Marines in November 1970 and he served for three years. While in the Marines Tom Completed tours in Germany and Guantanimo. Upon returning from the marines, Tom met and married the love of his life, Connie Louise. Together they have one beloved son Gregory Patrick.
"Tom began working in the coal mining industry. He became an electrician and worked for Island Creek Coal Company and retired from Console Coal after 37 years. Tom was a member of the UMWA where he served in the office of the Local District 2232. He made many friends who became family while working and he cherished the friendships made. He also gave much of his time over the years to volunteering for organizations such as The Raysal Volunteer Fire Department, local little league and midget leagues. Tom had a competitive spirit and enjoyed coaching Connie and other talented athletes in the 80’s and 90’s with the Bartley Women’s Softball League.
"Tom also loved hunting. He looked forward to annual hunting trips with family and friends. Tom valued the many friendships formed over the years which he and Connie spent traveling the state, supporting Greg in football and wrestling. These were memories that Tom held forever dear. Tom was of the Christian Faith he loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Atwell Church of God.
"In additional to his parents, Paul and Sarah Stacy, Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years, Connie Stacy; his mother-in-law, Lola Ashworth; one granddaughter, Ermie Rose Stacy; sisters, Carmen (Delford) Thornsbury, Mary (Von) Thornsbury, and Ethel (Mike) Hurley; brother-in-law, Larry Herron; and sisters-in-law, Sareta Stacy and Sue Stacy.
"Survivors include his son, Greg Stacy and wife Amber; grandchildren, Greyson and Mia of Fargo, ND; sister, Sally Herron of Bristol, TN; brothers, Paul (Lucy) Stacy of Akron, OH, Ralph Stacy of Raysal, TIm (Lori) Stacy of Raysal and Richard (Tammy) Stacy of Highpoint, NC; brothers-in-law, Mark (Deborah) Ashworth of Georgia, Jason (Barbara) Ashworth of North Carolina, Guy (Kim) Ashworth of Tazewell, VA; and sister-in-law, Loretta (Brad) Welling of Florida. Tom was also blessed with a large host of nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 1 o’clock with Reverend Roger Hale, Jr. officiating at the Old Country Church in Raysal, WV, where the UMWA Sub 28 Chaplain Corp will also do their rites. Burial will follow in the Tom Sparks Cemetery on Rock Ridge near Paynesville, WV with the VFW Post # 1144 conducting Military graveside rites. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Dwayne Herron, TJ Stacy, Rocky Stacy, John Stacy, Jeff Johnson and Austin Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Greyson Stacy and Jax Johnson.
