"Ambrose E. Green, 87, of Pineville, passed away at his son�s home, Saturday, January 26, 2008 following a long illness with his daughter-in-law by his side. Born March 7, 1920 at Pineville, he was the son of the late Nathan and Emma Mitchell Greene. "Mr. Green was of the Protestant faith and served in the US Army during World War II. He was an 11 year survivor of pancreatic cancer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, gardening and being with his family and friends. Mr. Green is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister,a granddaughter and a companion, Virginia Whittaker.
"Survivors include two sons, Glen Greene and his wife, Cindy of Middleburg, VA and Gerald Green and his wife, Brenda, his special daughter-in-law, of Glen Rogers; a daughter, Janet Brooks and her husband, Putt of Manassas, VA; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
"He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
"At the request of Mr. Green, he will be cremated and there will be no services..."
