"David Carl Phillips, 76, of Pipestem, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born May 12, 1947 in Iaeger, WV, he was the son of the late Ray Carl Phillips and Zelphia Bailey Phillips."David was a Norfolk and Southern Railroad Engineer, a former Chief of Police in Iaeger and a Deputy with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a Lifetime Member of the V.F.W. 1144 of Iaeger. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, fishing and watching westerns. He was a church member of the Baptist Faith.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Phillips and two sisters, Patricia Abram and Elizabeth Phillips.
"Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Debra Diann Stowers Phillips of the home; four sons, David Phillips Jr. and wife Jennifer of Orange Park, FL, Mark Phillips of Beckley, Dustin Phillips and wife Miranda of Hanover, WV and Dakota Phillips and wife Conikim of Fair Play, SC; one daughter, Devin Sparks and husband Marcus of Roderfield; one brother, Billy Phillips and wife Sherrie of Chapmanville, WV; two sisters, Johnnie Wolfe of Iaeger and Tammy Lowrance of Oak Hill, WV; fourteen grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Jordan, Gavin, Mallory, Jacob, Kaley, Loghan, Liam, Lincoln, Savannah, Abigail, Kaira and Olivia; one great- granddaughter, Raelyn.
"Graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1:00 PM from the Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield with the Reverend Billy Phillips (his brother) officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the V.F.W Post 1144 of Iaeger. There will be no visitation.

"Johnnie Marie Phillips Lockhart Wolfe, 81, of Iaeger, WV went to her Heavenly Home Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV."Johnnie was born in 1942 a daughter of the late Ray Carl and Zelphia Bailey Phillips. Johnnie was a retired secretary of 35 years at Iaeger Jr. High School which was just one of the jobs she performed during her life time. Johnnie was of the Baptist Faith and loved going to church at Calvary Baptist Church in Iaeger; she loved her church family unconditionally and loved singing in the choir, in which her voice was absolutely beautiful. Johnnie had several hobbies, she loved singing, writing poems, working crossword puzzles, shopping and traveling. Family was the most precious thing to her; Johnnie’s happiest moments was when she was surrounded by her family.
"In addition to her parents Johnnie was preceded in death by two loving husbands, Ronald Lockhart Sr. and Frank Wolfe; two brothers, Luther Phillips and David Phillips, and two sisters, Patricia Abram and Elizabeth Phillips.
