He was preceded in death by his second wife, Madge, and by his two sisters, Hattie (Christian) Johnson and Juanita (Christian) Hansen."Born at Squire, West Virginia, and graduated from Iaeger High School in 1939. Married (1) Jennifer "Jennie" Wondolowski, (2) Virginia Madge Sheppard. Served with distinction in the Navy in World War II in the Mediterranean and Pacific. Served on the USS Calypso, an escort ship for President Roosevelt prior to December 7, 1941. Also served on the Texas, the Cory and the Hudson, rising to the rank of Chief Bosun's Mate. Worked in the West Virginia coal mines and played baseball before joining the Navy.
"After the war, he attended Concord College then worked for Martin Marietta Corporation in Baltimore and Orlando. After retirement he lived in Orange Park, Florida and Rocky Gap, Virginia. He is survived by two daughters, Candace Richards of San Diego, California, and Rose Ann Jenny of Edmond, Oklahoma."
