"Glenn "Cool Breeze" Kirk, 69, of Welch, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023."Glenn was born on December 27, 1953, in Coalwood, West Virginia, where he later became a coal miner. He was a beloved father and grandfather who had a wealth of knowledge when it came to sports statistics. Glenn had played football for the Big Creek Owls, where he joked that he was the best little linebacker ever. In addition, he was an avid collector of baseball cards, coins, guns, knives, and race cars, and enjoyed deer hunting.
"In addition to his parents, Gaylord Kirk and Pearl Billings Kirk; Glenn was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Jo Kirk.
"Those left to cherish his memory include, his daughter Holli Kirk and her fiancé Andy Harvey; son Jason Kirk; grandchildren Taylor Kirk, Jason Edward Kirk II and Marionna Kirk; sister Janice Pierce; special friend Joann Mullins; and a host of other friends and family.

"Janice Sue Pierce, 80, of Welch, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born November 14, 1945, in Coalwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Gaylord and Pearl Billings Kirk."Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
"Janice had a heart full of love and a spirit that made every day feel like home. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—watching Gunsmoke and The Price is Right, getting lost in a good book, cooking up meals that became traditions, and decorating her home with festive cheer for every holiday. But more than anything, she adored her grandchildren and poured her heart into their lives, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and warmth.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis Pierce; her daughter, Cheri England; three brothers and three sisters.
"She is survived by her daughters, Denise Pierce of Welch, WV, and Deanna (Michael) Justice of Lerona, WV. Janice’s greatest joy was being “Grandma” to her cherished grandchildren: Candace (David) Burnette of Rock, WV; Lewis (Jenny) Pertee of Princeton, WV; Terri (Raymart) Agovida of Florida; Harley Pertee; and Alex (Alexus) Justice of Lerona, WV. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, and two spoiled grand-dogs who brought her endless smiles. She is also survived by her loving sister, Wanda Polsinelli of Michigan; her brother, Curtis Kirk of Florida; and a very special family friend, Tina Tickle. Janice leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
