"JOLO — Donald Lee Hess, 54, of Jolo, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his residence."Donald was born May 23, 1954 in Bartley, W.Va., a son of the late Sammy Williams and Annie Blankenship Hess.
"He was employed as a miner at the Dominion Coal Corporation in Vansant, Va. Also, he enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family and grandbabies, and enjoyed the company of neighbors and friends.
"In addition to his parents, one brother, Burt Blankenship preceded him in death.
"Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Patricia Anne Hess, of the home; one daughter, Michelle Lee Hess of Jolo and fiancé Vernor Wimmer; one son, Jason Don Hess and wife Kimberly of Slate Creek, Va.; three grandchildren, Courtney Hess of the home and Ashton and Rylan Hess both of Slate Creek, Va.; four sisters, Caldonia Hess, Freda Hurley, Belva and Patty Hagerman all of Jolo; and two brothers, Sammy Hess of Jolo, Thurman Williams of Woodbridge, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted with Evangelist Hobert Kennedy and the Reverend Mike Rife officiating at the Crossview Church of Christ on Stateline Ridge near Paynesville, W.Va.
"Burial will follow in the Tom Sparks Cemetery on Rock Ridge near Paynesville, W.Va.
"Pallbearers will be Michael and Brian Poore, David Hagerman, Pat Donahue, Perk and Brandon Blankenship and Johnny Lester.
"Honorary pallbearers will be Oliver Horn, James Stacy, and fellow employees of the Dominion Coal Corporation.
