"Mary Hanson Justice, 94, of Clifton Forge VA, formerly of Princeton and Asco, experienced the ultimate healing and went to be with her Lord from Clifton Forge on Monday evening, July 24, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She spent most of her life in McDowell County. She, along with her late husband Harold Justice, moved to the Princeton area in 1985. In June, 2015 she moved to Clifton Forge, VA to be near her family. She was a former member of the congregation of First Church of God, Davy, WV, where she was active in all programs of the church. Since 1985 she has been a member of the congregation of the First Church of God, 301 Mahood Avenue, Princeton where, over the years, she served on many boards and committees, including Board of Trustees, Church Council, Board of Christian Education, Food Pantry Committee, Pasto-Parish Committee, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Adult Sunday School principal, Recording Secretary, and as substitute teacher for the Friendship Class.

"She was also a former member of the Sanctuary Choir; for many years was Coordinator of the older adult ministry of the church known as the “Silver Saints”, a ministry which she was instrumental in establishing, and was an active member of the Women of the Church of God (now Christian Womens Connection) where she held various offices. She also served as church secretary part time for several years. Since moving to Clifton Forge she attended Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Anne Lively Fellowship and the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group. She was also a volunteer at Allegheny Highlands Arts and Craft Center in Clifton Forge.

"She was a 1941 graduate of Welch High School and a graduate of McLain’s Business College. She was a legal secretary in McDowell County, where she was employed for nearly twenty two years in the law office of Grover C. Goode, and later in several other law offices in Welch. She was instrumental in establishing the McDowell County Chapter of the Literacy Volunteers of America. She also served for many years as a volunteer at Princeton Community Hospital. She was a former member of the League of Mercy, the Golden Angels, and the day circle of the Home League of the Salvation Army in Princeton. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society, and was, at the time of her death, an associate member of the United Mine Workers of America.

"Born at Asco, McDowell County, on October 26, 1922, she was born again, through the blood of Jesus Christ, in 1946. She was the youngest child of the late Harry Ward Hanson (1890-1945) and Emma Alice Perry-Hanson (1900-1962). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold J. Justice (Deceased); one sister, Addie Elizabeth Hanson-Rhodes (1917-1966); two brothers, Joseph Hanson (Deceased) and Lewis Hanson (Deceased); and her loving canine companion Freckles. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

"She is survived by her daughter, the love of her life, Phyllis Justice-Owens & husband Donald Owens; her cherished granddaughter, Dr. Michele Owens-Good; nieces and nephews, Dr. Michael Hanson & wife Jane Hanson, Joseph Hanson & wife Mary Ann Hanson, Sue Ross & husband Leston Ross, Faye Keaton, Phyllis Waddell, Sheila Gobel & Sarah Owens.

"He was born at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, West Virginia on the 22nd day of August, 1983 and the son of Tamsey Wade Kelsor of Keystone, West Virginia and Gerald Shelton of Columbus, Ohio. After completing his High School education, Jason began working and was last employed at the Wal-mart Store in Bluefield, Virginia. Jason gave his life to Christ and was a faithful member of New Vision United Holiness Church in Northfork, West Virginia.

"In earlier years he was a member of both Galilee Baptist Church and McDowell Missionary Baptist Church. Jason was a quiet young man who loved reading the Bible. Also, he was a member of the Community of Praise Choir. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fan of basketball.
Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Tomie and Dorothy Wade and his paternal grandfathers, William Shelton and the Reverend Curtis Spencer.
