"Wanda Lee Allen Long, 73 years of age formerly of Yukon, WV passed away on May 6, 2016 at the Russell Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, VA. Wanda was born October 9, 1942 in Stringtown, WV and was the daughter of the late William Harvey Allen and Esty Belle Viars Allen."She was a wonderful mother and homemaker who loved her children and husband. She also was a lifelong Christian who loved her savior Jesus Christ. Wanda was a professional seamstress and quilt maker having worked in sewing factories in Chilhowie, VA and Bradshaw, WV until her retirement. She also served God as a Sunday school teacher for many years, and having a beautiful singing voice. She also was the lead singer for the popular gospel singing group “The Long Family Quartet” along with her husband and children. Wanda also had a green thumb and was well known for growing her beautiful African Violets as well as her many other lovely plants and flowers in with she placed in her beautiful flower pots that she hand panted herself.
"She was preceded in death by the love of her life her husband of 55 ½ years, Hobert “Ray “ Long on July 22 2015, her infant daughter Summer Lee Long and brother Carl “Buddy” Allen.
"She is survived by her daughters, Wanda “Darlene” Day and husband Ernie of Jewell Ridge, VA and Cloeata “Donice” Dunford and husband Dennis of Honaker, VA where she made her home, and son, Dennis Ray Long and wife, Theresa of Vale, NC. Brothers; James Allen and wife, Margie of Bailey, NC, George “Poncho” Allen of Yukon, WV, and Gorden “Kelly” Allen and wife, Vada of Lenora, WV. Sisters; Carol “Sissy” Osborne and husband, Dennis of Virgilina, VA, Ella Lawson and husband, Don of Virgilina, VA, Sureta Muncy of Marion, VA and Brenda Allen of South Boston, VA, grandchildren; Jacob Dunford, Roy D. Crigger, Matthew Crigger, Summer Cheyenne Day, Chris Day, Megan long and Grant Long. Great-grandchildren; Easten, Ani, Jadden and Grace.
