Born March 4, 1927 at Atwell, WV she was a daughter of the late William Nelson and Sidney Hicks Nelson Blevins. She was of the holiness faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Newman Robert Stone and Andy Kulchar, IV; one daughter, Anna Price; two brothers, Clarence Nelson and Brud Blevins; two sisters, Geraldine Blevins and Blanche Day."She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Moore and husband, Mike of Tazewell, VA and Kay Curtis of North Tazewell, VA; brother, James Blevins of Stuart, VA; thirteen grandchildren, Melissa Kroll, Melanie Moore, Angie Kulchar, Michelle Addair, Keisha Cole, J.L. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Shields Russell Burge.
"Elaine was devoted to her family. She cherished her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She was the strength and glue that held her family together. She was employed by Stevens Clinic Hospital, the West Virginia American Water Company and retired from the City of Welch Water Department as their office manager.
"Elaine is survived by her brother, Edwin Frye (Sue) of Wintersville, Ohio; her son, Bill Burge (Pandora) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two daughters, Debbie Humphreys (Dana) of Clendenin, West Virginia; and Barbara Lustic of Bessemer, Alabama. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren Emily Cadle, Angie Edwards (Jason), Simonie Merritt (Nate), Nora Burge, Josh Humphreys (Amanda), Zachary Humphreys, and honorary grandchild Carl Munsee. Her great-grandchildren include Anthony, Kaleigh, and Gia Colobro; Lillie and Violet Merritt; Celia Humphreys, and soon to be born William Franklin Green.
"The family would like to thank Joyce Shafer and the staff of Shafer's Assisted Living in Clendenin for their caring and dedicated service to mom. A special thanks to Lisa Atkinson and Jessica Taylor of Shafer's who bravely helped evacuate the residents during the June flood that destroyed the care home.
