"Raymond Smith, 61, of Pounding Mill, VA, formerly of Bradshaw, WV, passed away unexpectantly at his residence Friday, November 23, 2018."Raymond was born June 21, 1957, in Iaeger, a son of Patsy Sanders Smith and the late Gene Smith. He was a heavy equipment operator for GE Mining, a coal truck owner and driver, and a mechanic. Raymond was truly a Jack of All Trades. He also had a huge love for horses.
"In addition to his father, Gene Smith, Raymond was preceded in death by one brother, Olaf Smith.
"Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 14 years, Crystal Jo Smith of the home; five sons, Scotty Smith and wife Danielle of Snow Camp, NC, Jason Smith and wife Kellie of Rockridge, Shawn Payne and wife Trish of Rockridge, Josh Payne and wife Betsy of Grapevine, and Travis Payne and finacee Danielle of Pounding Mill; six grandchildren, Jayden and Kaylen Smith of North Carolina, Jacob and Emma Smith of Rockridge, Madison and Blake Payne of Rockridge; two step grandchildren Sierra and Trey Garlic of Grapevine; his mother, Patsy Smith of Rockridge; one brother Darrell Smith and wife Jennifer of Jolo; one sister Clarsie Smith of Pounding Mill, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Raymond had many friends whom he thought the world of.
He was a great man with a kind heart and loving spirit. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him."Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 1 o'clock with Reverend Wayne Kennedy officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger.
