"Jay "Luther" McComas, 56, of Mullens was dead on arrival at a Mullens hospital on Sunday, February 19, 1978 following a short illness. McComas was the supervisor for the Mullens District of the West Virginia Department of Highways.

"He was born in 1922 in Pineville, WV to John McComas (Deceased) and Mary Lane-Tolliver (Deceased).

"He is survived by his wife, Sadie Mae Tolliver-McComas-Ellison (1922-2004) whom he married on May 20, 1944 in New Richmond, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1944, Page 365, Application Date: May 18, 1944); his children, Betty Lois McComas-Stowers-McMillion-Stanley (1943-2018), Alvin McComas, Ruth McComas-Underwood, Mildred McComas-Catron, Earl McComas, Alfred McComas, Wayne McComas, and Jay Luther McComas Jr. (1956-2007).

Born Jan. 28, 1956, at Mullens, he was the son of the late Jay Luther McComas Sr. and Sadie Mae Tolliver McComas Ellison.
Mr. McComas was a former employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad and a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Noah Ellison, and a stepbrother, Elmer Ellison.

"Nannie Mae McComas Adkins 88, of Keyrock went to her heavenly home on Friday February 19, 2021 following a long illness. The past 6 years Nannie made her home at Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she was loved dearly, and she loved them.

"Born February 20, 1932 to the late John and Mary McComas. Nannie was best known as a great cook and the most requested dish was her Chicken and Dumplings. You never left her home hungry. She enjoyed raising her garden (which was the size of a football field), canning her harvest and then sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends.

"In addition to her parents, Nannie was preceded in death by her husband Arthur "Ott" Adkins, brothers Luther and Auldie McComas, sisters Mazie Lane and Laura Lane.

"Family left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Brenda (Bobby) Christian, and Ricky (Joan) Adkins. Her three grandchildren: Tiffany (Steven) Hunt, Christopher and Skyler Adkins. One great-granddaughter Mackenzie Grace. A special tribute to those who honored Nannie throughout her life, Roger Adkins, Virgie England, Lucille Adkins and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, and countless friends.
