"Deanna Lester Cook, 71, of Oceana, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at her home. She was born on July 13, 1950 in Oceana, WV a daughter of the late Wallace and Vera Lamb Lester. Deanna was a member of Toneda Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served as assistant church secretary. She was a previous State President of the Extension Homemakers and worked for several years as the Activity Director for the Wyoming Nursing and Rehab Center. She loved baking bread and decorating cakes. Deanna enjoyed attending Camp Thomas E. Lightfoot as a young girl and was honored to have served as a camp counselor for many years (How How)! In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter Darice Ann Gordon, and a brother Darrell Lester. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years Joseph "J.B." Cook, a son J.R. Cook and wife Cindy of Carthage, NC, five grandchildren Justin Prichard, Katie Cook, Matthew Gordon, Nathan Gordan and Jamie Cook, two great grandchildren Jameson and Jonah Prichard, three sisters Darice Bradford of Oceana, Leah Cook of Welch and Darita Green of Oceana, two brothers Denny Lester of Oceana and David Lester of Statesville, NC and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home."
