"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Jewell, Sr., a daughter, Cheryl Jewell Flippo, and an infant son. Also preceded by a brother, John Shoemaker and four sisters, Margaret Bowen, Bessie Chambers, Stella Yates, and Frances Fritz.
"Mary is survived by one sister, Joan Chambers of Elkton, MD, and six children, Charles Jewell, Jr. and wife Kay of Edwardsville, IL; Anita Pratt and husband Eugene of Monroe, NC; Pamela Jewell and Cathy Byerly of Mocksville, NC; Gina Woods and husband Don of Lexington, NC; Terry Jewell of Charlotte, NC; Rick Jewell and Teresa Johnson of Mooresville, NC; and one "adopted" son, Steven Higginbotham and wife Tammy of Harmony, NC; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
