"Our beloved Aubrey Clyde Conley, 88, of Amigo, passed away on November 12, 2015. Born October 1, 1927, in Narrows, VA, he was the son of Elijah Conley (Deceased) and Mae Gore-Conley (Deceased)."He grew up during the Depression and World War II, and he spoke of those experiences for the rest of his life. After graduating from Narrows High School in 1945, he joined the Army. He was part of the U.S. occupation force in Japan and his unit was one of the first admitted into Nagasaki after the atomic bond had been dropped.
"He was attending Bluefield Business College when he met Rachel Elizabeth Snavely-Conley (1930-2012). He said it was love at first sight, and they married on December 27, 1949 in Princeton, Mercer County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Mercer County, WV, 1949, Page 103, Line 24, Application Date: December 21, 1949). The marriage lasted 62 years until she passed away in May 2012.
"Aubrey was an accountant for coal mines for 40 years. He started in McDowell County and moved to Wyoming County in 1958. He retired from Beckley Mining in Glen Daniel in 1990. He was a devoted care giver to Rachel in her last years.
"Aubrey enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. In recent times, he liked going to the Dairy Queen, watching baseball and The Waltons on TV and caring for pets.
"In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Williams (Deceased); brothers, Clayton Conley (Deceased) and Robert Conley (Deceased); sisters, Jessie Conley-Nelson (Deceased) and Emma Conley-Lester (Deceased).

"Born Nov. 19, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Elizabeth Cook Snavely.
"She grew up in Draper and graduated from Draper High School. She attended Bluefield Business College, where she met her husband, Aubrey.She was a retired school secretary.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Williams; three sisters, Ruth Rupe, Dorothy Reece and Louise Robbins, and one brother, Thomas Snavely.

"John Aubrey Conley, 60, of Amigo, went to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Born January 16, 1958 at Bluefield, he was the son of the late Aubrey Clyde Conley (1927-2015) and Rachel Elizabath Snavely-Conley (1930-2012)."After graduating from WVU he became a journalist in Wyoming County. His career started at the Mullens Advocate, then the Gilbert times, and the Pineville Herald. His passion was sports, of all kinds. He loved documenting local players and their teams. John loved collecting and watching old movies and also collected old comic books. Over the years John helped with many organizations, Boy Scouts, 4-H, etc. As a member of the Stephenson United Methodist Church he served as a Superintendent and Adult Class Teacher.
"Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Patsy Conley-Parker of OH, and Susan Conley-Williams of NC; his brother, Roger Conley of Amigo; six nieces and nephews; and four grand nieces and nephews.
