"PVT US ARMY WORLD WAR II∼James William Jackson, 83, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Princeton, died on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at his residence. He was a retired coal miner with Pocahontas Fuel Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.

"He was born on June 14, 1918 in Bradshaw to the late George Washington Jackson (Deceased) and Polly Gross-Jackson-Hicks (Deceased). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Margaret Keen-Jackson (1925-2000) whom he married on September 2, 1943 in Jolo, McDowell County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, McDowell County, WV, 1943, Page 205, Application Date: August 30, 1943); two sons, William "Billy" Ray Jackson (Deceased) and Eugene Jackson (Deceased); two sisters; and two half brothers .

"Richard K. Evans, 76, of (Bluewell) Bluefield, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Charleston Area Medical Center from a heart attack while working at his business in Welch, doing what he loved.

"Born on August 27, 1943 in Welch, he was a son of the late Paul J. and Marie Kaylor Evans. He was a longtime member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a 1961 graduate of Gary High School and a 1965 graduate of Concord College with Master’s degrees in History, Math, and Biology. He graduated from WVU with a major in Biology and a minor in Drivers Education. He taught school at Gary High School in McDowell County and Central Junior High and Montcalm High School in Mercer County from 1964-1974, after which he took a position with Prudential Insurance Company where he received awards for faithful service, including the highest Award ever bestowed to an agent, for the number of policies being issued. He later opened his business, R&R Insurance in Welch serving the community that he dearly loved. He loved talking, storytelling and never met a stranger when it came to having a conversation.

"Survivors include his high-school sweetheart for 62 years, of which 52 they were married, Mary (Ginger) Donchatz Evans; daughter, Melissa K. (Michael) Linkous; grandchildren that were the pride and joy of his life, Andrew & Mikayla; brother in law, Joe (Catherine) Donchatz and their children, Andrew, Joanna (Colin), and Rebekah. He is also survived by many close friends including Sammy Miano and his faithful secretary, Brittany Blevins.
