"Roy N. Lockhart, 81, of Wilmore, West Virginia went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, September 29, 2017 while resting peacefully at home. Roy was a devoted husband, loving father, and caring grandfather. Roy was born May 11, 1936 in Panther, West Virginia to John and Luther Molly Lockhart. Roy married his best friend and the love of his life, Alicia Lockhart on May 18, 1957 and worked as a coal miner until retirement. His full-time occupation became being the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren. Together, Roy and Alicia had two daughters and two grandchildren. Roy enjoyed boating with his family at South Holston Lake, treating his family to dinner whenever possible, and tending to his garden and his chickens. He also was a proud member of Calvary Baptist Church in Iaeger, WV.He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alicia; daughters; Sherry (Tommy) Vance of Ikes Fork, WV, and Michele (Paul) Hare of Ikes Fork, WV; grandchildren; Jessica (Brandon) Dale of Barboursville, WV, and Michael Hare of Ikes Fork, WV. He was preceded in death by parents John and Luther Molly Lockhart; brothers; Robert Lockhart and Frank Lockhart; sisters, Verna Workman, Okie Hopson, Elva Mounts, Helen O’Bryan, and Betty Cook. Family viewing will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017. John was born on May 11, 1967 in Prince William County, VA a son of the late Teddy G. and Barbara Shields Lusk. He is a 1985 graduate of Baileysville High School. John was a very special person. He possessed the remarkable ability to remember birthdays and anniversaries of everyone he cared for and dearly loved following sports. He could recite the final scores and statistics of football, basketball, and baseball games for decades past.
