"Ola Virginia Turner Laxton, 98, of Matheny, WV, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2019 at the
Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation, New Richmond, WV. She was born on August 29, 1921 in Virginia, a
daughter of the late George H. and Hester Hagwood Turner. Ola was a person who loved God, family and friends
and it showed wherever she went. She spent most of her life sewing and any time she was out, it never failed that
someone approached her and thanked her for making their wedding dress, a cheerleader uniform for their child or
altering their husband's pants. Ola loved life and she could find things to laugh about with her whole body.
Christmas was her favorite holiday. Her hugs, OH HER HUGS, who could ever forget her hugs -- the intense
moments when she held you tightly and close to her heart. The grandchildren always said no one ever hugged
them like their Mamaw. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Emmett Laxton, Jr.;
and three brothers Woodrow, Carlton and Paul Turner. Survivors include her two sons Dwight (Sue) Laxton of
Matheny and Larry (Judy) Laxton of Mobile, AL; a sister Charlene Slate of Collinsville, VA; five grandchildren
Amanda (Bern) Gregory, Brandon (Stephanie) Laxton, Natasha Laxton, Maeghan (Chad) Powell and Keylan
(Ashley) Laxton; nine great grandchildren; a special devoted friend Jacqueline Stewart; and a host of other loving
family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday December 9th at the Guyandotte Missionary
Baptist Church, Jesse, WV with Bro. Russell Justice officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens,
Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 PM until time of services on Monday at the church.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV"
