"Paul Frank Goad, Sr.

"Paul Frank Goad, Sr., 84, of Newhall, WV went to be with his Lord peacefully in his sleep at home, Wednesday, January 26, 2005.

"Paul was born at Newhall, WV August 26, 1920, the son of the late William Henry Goad and Mary Magaline "Maggie" Edwards Goad.

"He graduated from Big Creek High School 1940, served his country during World War II as a technical sergeant in the Army Air Corp. in Panama. He worked for Consolidation Coal Co. at Bishop, VA mines for 38 years, and was a member of Local Union 6025, Bishop, Va. He was a Scout Master, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and a competitive archer, being a former WV State Champion. He was active in the American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, served as WV Great Sachem in the Improved Order of Redman and a former member of Order Free Masons.

"He loved the Lord and was a very active member in the Advent Christian Church of Newhall, a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

"He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Willie Mae Riley, Wanda Faye Underwood and brothers; Charles Cecil "Bud" Goad and Otis Eugene Goad.

Spence, Minister Lee Blackburn and Pastor Roland Rill officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Justin Goad, Daniel Goad, Brian Goad, Jamie Marrs, Bobby Boothe, Randy Fergerson, Marty Thorp, Jeff Harvey and Doug Brewster. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Webb and Hubert Brewster. Barns-Beavers VFW Post 7136 of Tazewell, VA will conduct military graveside rites.

"Ruth B. Goad, age 90 of Newhall, WV died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at a Glenwood Park Adult Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 8, 1924 at Newhall, WV and was a daughter of the late Lewis and Paralee Conner Belcher. Ruth grew up during the years of the Great Depression, and was a 1942 Graduate of Big Creek High School. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort by working as a Fingerprint Expert with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She later worked for over ten years as a LPN with Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, VA. Ruth lead a very active life, she was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Newhall, WV. She loved to sing and was a member of the “Peacemakers” Gospel group. Mrs. Goad supported many community organizations: the Girl Scouts of America, the Community Quilting Group, and many other organizations. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul Frank Goad, Sr.; brothers, Joe, Ira, and Turner Belcher and sisters, Vivian, Helen, Ermadean, and Ruby.

"Those left to cherish her memories include three sons, Paul F. Goad, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Summersville, WV, David Goad and wife, Drema of Morristown, TN, and William “Bill” Goad of Newhall, WV; one daughter, Connie Carver and husband Tom of Clifton Forge, VA ; one living sister, Reva Coop of Ft. Peirce, FL; four grandchildren, Brian Goad and wife, Andrea of Reno, NV, Justin Goad of Richmond, VA, Daniel Goad and wife, Connie of Johnson City, TN and Tina Webb of Atkins, VA; several nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends also survive.

"Funeral services for Ruth B. Goad will be conducted at 11:00 Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Johnny Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
