"Vickie was a lifelong resident of Mullens and was a graduate of Mullens High School and also from Bluefield State College with a degree in Nursing.
"Vickie chose a career in the healthcare industry caring for others and was a former employee of Wyoming General Hospital, was a former Director of Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and retiring in 2015 from Welch Community Hospital.
" She was always putting others before herself and caring for their needs before her own and saw the good in everyone.
"In her leisure she enjoyed spending time line dancing with her special friends Patty Scott and Sheila Prillaman; she enjoyed shopping and traveling with her two close cousins, Jennifer Saunders and Wanda Remley.
"In addition to her parents and stepfather she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, William "Slugger" Hess of 28 years.
