"Columbus "Chris" Jones, of Alexandria, KY, peacefully departed his body Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his home, at the age of 79. Mr. Jones was born on April 10, 1936 in McDowell Co., West Virginia, to the late Charlie and Lettie (née Hale) Jones."He began his work life as a coal miner, and later became a truck driver who enjoyed the pleasure of winding his way through the scenic mountains where he had first made his start. Chris eventually went on in his career to manage three service stations. He was also an Auxillary Police officer for Norwood, Ohio. He not only took pride in being an entrepreneur, but truly valued the memories he made during his time in business.
"He loved listening to gospel bluegrass music, bird watching, gardening, and also found great fulfillment in hunting and turkey shoots.
"He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (née Adams) South Jones; daughters Jennifer (Bill) McLaughlin and Linda (Dawnrae) Sisson; sons Charlie Jones, Eugene Jones, and Matthew (Kamren) Jones Rota; children by marriage Sandra (Danny) South and Richard (Gloria) South; siblings Agnes (Bernard) Ward, Lorrie Jones, and Ray Jones; as well as many loving grandchildren.
"In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his twin brother George; children Vivene Goodman and Paul Jones, a child by marriage Kevin (Kary) South, and his sister Juanita (Clint) Doan.
"A visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria, KY on Saturday April 2, from 2 to 5 p.m., with services beginning at 5 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 6 p.m. in the Peach Grove Cemetery.
"Those whom he left will honor his memory by living a life of joyfulness and always treating others the way they wish to be treated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army."
