"WELCH — Lillian D. Belcher, age 85, of 110 Belcher Road, Welch, W.Va. (Belcher Mountain), went to be with the Lord Wednesday (March 12, 2008) at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a short illness."Born March 6, 1923 in Superior, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Floyd K. Belcher and Sarah E. Lane Belcher. She was a member of the Elkhorn Regular Baptist Church on Belcher Mountain for many years, and a resident of Belcher Mountain most of her life.
"She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
"Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Belcher in 1994; two brothers, Clarence A. Belcher and Frank Belcher; four sisters, Virgie Lee Workman, Phoebe Worsham, Florence Lane, and Ruby Toler; a special son-in-law, Lawrence Rose.
"Survivors include: Two daughters, Mary Rose of Belcher Mountain, Wanda Dalton and husband Thomas of Rocky Mt., Va.; three sons, Frank Belcher and wife Ruth of Belcher Mountain, Hersie Belcher and wife Judy of Belcher Mountain, Clarence Belcher and wife Connie of Belcher Mountain; one sister, Alice Belcher of Welch, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Aaron Belcher of Salkum, Wash.; one aunt, Bertha McPeake of Belcher Mountain; several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 15, 2008) at 12:00 noon at the Elkhorn Regular Baptist Church, Belcher Mountain with Elder Cecil Belcher, Elder Bryce Phillips, Elder Gene Green, Elder Roger Walker, and Elder Denny Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkhorn Church Cemetery on Belcher Mountain.
"Friends may call today (Friday) from 6 to 9:00 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home, Kimball, W.Va. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service.
