Born August 28, 1918 (SS states1917), he was the son of the late Harman Trent (1883-1962) and Margaret Kennedy-Trent (1894-1927)."Melvin was a former coal miner and a veteran of World War II. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
"He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vida Aliff-Trent-Chambers; two daughters, Betty Jo Trent-King and Geraldine Trent-Pinter (1950-2012), both of Gary; three sons, Gary Eugene "Gene" Trent (Deceased), Michael Trent, and Dwight Trent (1957-2016), all at home; three brothers. January 6, 2020 Beckley Appalachian Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born on September 25, 1923 in Laurel
Branch, WV a daughter of the late Bee and Cora Toler Aliff. Zida is the last of her immediate family. In addition to
her parents she is preceded death by three brothers Albert (Ruth), Raymond (Masil) and Elmer (Elouine) Aliff; her
children Gene Trent, Geraldine Trent Pinter and Dwight Trent; her first husband Melvin Trent; and her second
husband Herbert Chambers. Survivors include her daughter Betty and Jerry King, with whom she lived and her
son Mike Trent all of Clear Fork; six grandchildren Jodi and Scott Parsons of Clear Fork, Randy King and Mark
Gonzalez of Jasper, AL, Angie and Kevin Battle of Perrysburg, OH, Amy Pinter of Oceana, Adam and Courtney
Trent of Clear Fork and Heather Trent of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren Jeremiah Parsons and Addie Parsons
