"Betty Joyce Almond departed her family unexpectedly on June 27, 2023. Betty
was born in North Carolina on January 10 th , 1950 and was raised alongside her
brothers whom she cherished. Betty, at age 17, moved to West Virginia and
settled in Wyoming County. Betty enjoyed novel adventures, farming, sewing,
playing guitar and piano, and singing in church.Betty was mother to her living daughters Wendy Lester, Laura Jeffries, Heather
Stokes, and her deceased sons, Roy Dixon, Jesse, and Jamie. Betty prided herself
on raising upstanding children. Being a good mother to her meant allowing her
children to have minds of their own and creating avenues unique and equally
challenging in order reach their own highest potential with love, grace, and
mercy. With her life’s lessons, she instilled wisdom in her children with a secret
garden where her love and memories will remain."Her legacy includes her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Belonging to
Wendy and Steve Lester: Tiffany Casto, Selena Lambert, Anna Byrd, Brandon
Lester, Jesse James, Anna Ruth, Kolton, and Lacy and great grandchildren
belonging to Tiffany Casto: Phoenyx, Aden, Zeke, Izzy, and Journey. Great
grandchildren belonging to Selena and Gregory Lambert: Conner, Eli, and Owen;
Great grandchildren belonging to Anna and Michael Byrd: Primrose; and

The secret garden she grew and fostered, as evidenced by her legacy, was plenty.
