"William M Silvers was the son of Jessie Martin and Nancy Rebecca "Nannie" Calhoun Silvers."Bill's first wife was Myrtle "Myrtie" Porter Silvers (4 Jul 1889 - 20 Dec 1913). Her parents were Frank and Nettie Smith Porter. She was born in Boyle County, Kentucky, and died in McCreary County, Kentucky. She died of tuberculosis and was buried in Oneida, Tennessee. Children Bill and Myrtie had included Nannie Francis Silvers, Theodore "Ted" Silvers, Mack Silvers, and Earl Silvers.
"Bill's second wife was Virginia "Jennie" Allen Silvers. She was born in Virginia. Her parents were Floyd and Lizzie Allen. Children Bill and Jennie had together were Juanita Silvers and Jewel Silvers.
"The year of birth given on Bill's death certificate was 1879. However, in Social Security Administration records it is 1877. On his World War I Draft Registration it was 1881, and on his marriage records to Virginia it was 1883. His usual occupation listed on his death certificate was a miner, almost certainly of coal."

He was a graduate of Big Creek High School, and attended the Nashville Auto Diesel College. He was a former mechanic with the WV Department of Highways, and was a long distance truck driver. He was a veteran of the US Navy.

"In addition to his mother he is survived by two daughters, Crystal Roncella of Glen Jean, WV, and Tara Simons and husband Gary of Maiden, NC; and one future granddaughter Peyton Nicole.
