"Brett William Duncan, 66, of McGraws, WV passed away on Friday, February 20, at CAMC General Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with black lung disease. Brett was born on May 21, 1959, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Dorothy Lafferty and Paul Duncan, and was later raised by his stepfather, John Lafferty. He was the middle child of six siblings. Brett proudly served his country as an Army Special Forces noncommissioned officer, a role he held with deep honor and pride. He was also a proud member of the NRA. In his free time, Brett found joy in reloading, fishing on his boat, working in his garage, and most of all, spending time loving on his wife and grandbabies. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him and will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering support for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Dvon Duncan and brother-in-law Kevin Stambaugh. Brett is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Shannan Duncan. He was a devoted and loving father to his daughters, Tiffany (Chris) Gray, Destiny (Jerid) Massey, and Chelsea (Benjamin) Schroeder, and he proudly embraced his bonus daughters, Meghan Cook and Amanda Bannon, loving them as his own. He was a proud and loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Adrien, Talon, Wyatt, Chloe, Scarlet, Michael, Tucker, Hannah, Grayson, baby Maeve. Surviving siblings include Ken (Gail) Duncan, Donna Lafferty, Evelyn Stambaugh, and John Lafferty and he cherished his many nieces and nephews who adored him. He also leaves behind his best friends, who were like brothers to him, Craig (Windy) Daniel and Ricky Strunk. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 7th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Phillip Lafferty officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. The Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites in honor of his faithful and distinguished service to his country. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated following the service. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. "
