"Freda was born February 10, 1932 in Panther, WV, a daughter of the late William Anderson and Amanda Matney Justice. She was a homemaker and the last surviving member of her original family. Freda love to quilt, cook and garden. She was a member of the Bethany Regular Baptist Church.

"In addition to her parents Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Harless Matney, one son, Randy Matney, nine brothers, Quary, Willie, Ervin, John, Elbert, Clarence, Everett, Paul and Walter Justice; two sisters, Lucy Bailey and Dicey Justus; and a son-in-law, Frank Gonzalez. Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Gonzalez of Panther; four sons, Norman Justice, Ricky Matney, and Steve Matney and wife Sheila all of Panther, and Ray Matney of Cub Creek; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

"Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 13, 2021 at 1 o’clock with Elder Roger Walker, Elder Luke Lester and Elder Mark Lester officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Maw Matney Cemetery at Trace Fork near Panther, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

"Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening, August 12, 2021 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Evening services will be held at 7 p.m.

"Born April 16, 1941 he was the son of the late Dean Hatfield (Deceased) and Tilda Hatfield (Deceased).

"In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Hatfield (Deceased) and Louise Hatfield-Farris (Deceased); and one brother, Frank Hatfield (Deceased).

"Johnny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed hunting and shooting his bow.

"Those left to love and cherish the memory of Johnny and to mourn his passing include his loving wife: Anna Hatfield of Iaeger; three sons, Robert Lee Hatfield and Johnny K. "Mary Frances Lorraine Johnston Smith, 56, of Briar Creek, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday,
September 24, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House. She was born on March 7, 1960 in Giles County, VA, a
daughter of the late Quinton and Helen McDonald Johnston. Mrs. Smith was a devoted mother who
enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed horseback riding, camping,
fishing, sewing, gardening, her flower garden and singing and playing the guitar with her brothers and
sisters. Mary attended the House of Refuge and New Hope Church of Indian Creek. In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by her sister Deliliah Belle Smith; a brother Chad Lee Johnston; uncle
Jink Johnston; and two nephews John "JJ" Hopson, Jr. and Douglas "Junebug" Shelton. Survivors include
two sons Clint Smith, Jr. and fiancé Sarah of Oceana and Dustin Smith and wife Kelli of Huff Creek; a
daughter Sarah Smith and fiancé Josh Rowe of Briar Creek; two grandsons Braxton Blankenship and Easton
