Visitation: 6 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mary Jo DeFuria Bir was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Shannon Branch, W.Va., daughter of Michael and Anna DelToro DeFuria, Italian immigrants who came through Ellis Island. She graduated with a B.A. from Marshall College and was an English and Spanish teacher. She married Wallace Bir in 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Peter; her sister, Antoinette; and her husband, Wallace. Survivors: Children, Suzanne Kramer and husband, Gerald, Mary Pat Martin and Wallace Bir Jr.; grandchildren, Mary Theresa Johnston and husband, Michael, John Kramer and wife, Jennifer, Julie Foster and husband, Joshua, Mark Kramer and wife, Melissa, Eric Martin and wife, Lindsey, and Monica Kramer; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul DeFuria; and numerous nephews and nieces.
