"Melba Grace Kennedy Lawrence, 77, of Long Branch, WV, was called home to be with the Lord on August 28,
2020. She was born on July1, 1943 in Simon, WV the youngest child of the late Kurt and Sara Cline Kennedy.
Melba was of the Baptist faith. She was a friendly, caring person who loved to laugh, she also loved to go
shopping. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Grover Lawrence; a son Randy
Lawrence; a special niece Eleanor Osborne; five brothers Landon, Arson, Willie, Ulin and Arlin Kennedy; four
sisters Lila Brooks, Janice "Jig" Lawrence, Elouise Conn and Betty Jo Blankenship. Those left to cherish her
memory are two special daughters Rena (Bradley) Osborne and Janet Irick (Doeroller) Lawrence who were also
her caregivers; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday
September 1st in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Landon Blankenship
officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Milty Morgan Cemetery in the Josh Fork area of
Long Branch. Friends may gather with the family from 6 - 9:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers

Florida after a short illness. Hellen was born September 3, 1936 in Braeholm, WV to the late Charley and
Ruth Farris. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Cook; brother Homer Farris ; and sister
Christine Farris. Hellen was a 1954 graduate of Man High School. She worked most of her adult life at Cohen
Drug at Man, Island Creek Dept. Store at Accoville, and manager of the Justonian Motel at Justice until she
retired. She was a member of the Oceana United Methodist Church, Oceana Women's Club and the DAR. She
also served on the Oceana City Council. Hellen is survived by her daughter Julie (Charlie) Stephenson of
