"Marcus Ivan Rose, 63, of Welch passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his residence."Born July 15, 1956 in Germany he was the son of the late Marcus Reed Rose and Dorcas Lorraine Rose. He was a graduate of Fort Knox Kentucky High School, and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in Iceland and the Mediterranean. Following his discharge from the Navy he returned to Welch and helped his parents manage the Sports Den. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his aunt, Phyllis “Herky” Novak.
"Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Andrea Parks and husband Eric of Morgantown and Erin Hankins and husband Lee of Hickory, NC; two brothers, Raymond Neal of Princeton and Raymond Alexander Rose of Coalwood; two sisters, Rebecca Lynn Beck and husband Greg of Virginia Beach, VA, and Deborah Jo Ready and companion Robert Riffe of Bluefield; a special uncle, Joe Novak of Coalwood; and six grandchildren, Katelyn and Lane Hankins, and Caleb, Brayden, Madison and Morgan Parks.
"Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, from the Coalwood Pentecostal Holiness Church in Coalwood with Pastor Brenda Hall officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the church by VFW Post 1144, Iaeger.

"GASTONIA - Wallace "Gene" Clemins, 67, passed away June 22, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital."He was born Oct. 4, 1944, in McDowell County, W. Va., son of the late Beaty Eugene Clemins and Helen Fletcher Cleary.
"Mr. Clemins was a Private First Class in the US Army, where he served in Vietnam.
"A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Road Gastonia, NC 28052, officiated by Pas-tor Dwayne Burks.
"The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
