"Phillip Estep was born April 10, 1944 in Bradshaw WV. He went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2020 making his stay on earth 76 years and 11 days. Phillip was born to the late Harvey and Pearly Estep."Phillip married Joann Thornsbury Estep on March 6, 1970. To this union was born one daughter, Teresa Louise Estep of Jolo, WV and two sons, Phillip Benjamin Estep and wife Angel Hamilton Estep of Wharton, WV and Christopher Harvey Estep and late wife Melissa Aralds Estep of War, WV.

Phillip was baptized on November 8, 1971 by Elders Hassell Estep and Claude Conn at Slate Creek, VA. Phillip was a faithful member of the Old Regular Baptist for 48 years, 5 months and 11 days, with his membership at Old Samariah Church in Groundhog Hollow, WV. He served as clerk, assistant moderator, and moderator of different churches, and was the moderator of the Old Friendship Association for 8 years, 7 months and 25 days.
"Phillip joined the Army Branch of the US Military. He was a tank driver in the 69th Armor Division, 2nd Infantry at the rank of Spec.4. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 175.
"Phillip worked in the coal mines for 25 years for Island Creek Coal Company. He worked as a tipple mechanic but was also a certified electrician, a first-class mine foreman and a certified EMT. He was a member of Local Union 1509 until his death.
"Graveside services will be held Friday, April 24, 2020 at 1 o’clock at the Dave Estep Cemetery on Estep Ridge near Jolo, WV with burial to follow. Family, friends, and neighbors will serve as pallbearers.

He and grandmother were well thought of in the community. This summer 2010 I went back to visit the home they built in 1942. I was filed with emotions and warm memories. Church, Rolfe W. Va. in McDowell County
Born in Dubin. Ireland Robert Moore came to the United States when he was
a young man. He was of the Catholic faith. He became associated with the
Pentecostal through the healing of his child.
He recieved the Ноly Ghost and became strong Pentecostal believer. Most
everyone knew him as Pat.
It was in the spring of 1939, when the Rolfe Pentecostal Church
became a reality. Robert Edward Moore, who was the caretaker of Rolfe Grade
School felt the need of a Pantecostal Holiness
church in the community. He talked with the school board and they agreeded
to let Reverend C.A. Hensãey conduct a revival in the school. The revival
was a great success. Many people шаге saved, sanctified, and received the
Holy Ghost. The Rolfe Church was born and organized with Rev. C.A. Hensley
as the first Pastor. Robert Moore and his wife were very well known in the
community, and Mr.
Moore went to business places and ask for contributions to help buy the
lumber to build the church.
He worked along with the rest of the volunteer help. He worked as cofounder
along with Rev. Hensley.
The first deacons were Roy Lambert from Algoma, George Thornhill from
Gilliam, and Dewey Adams
from Rolfe, W.Va. Frank Morelock from Algoma became the secretary and
treasurer and then Sunday
School teacher."Later on, Robert Moore and his wife Lula built the house that is still
there on the hill beside the church. Their home was the home of all the
evangelists that came including Sylvia Harvey, who later became Sylvia
Sexton, wife of Dan Sexton, who become pastor in 1954. Rev. Joe Lilly spent
every weekend at the Moore home while pastoring the church, Joseph W.
Moore, son of Robert and Lula
preached in the church after his safe return as POW during World War Two.
"There is so much more I could say about my Father and his work in the
church, but I am happy to know that the church is still strong in the Lord
after 57 years.
