"... My father, George A. Robertson, was born in Keystone in 1930 to Lavinia Robertson, who supposedly ran a “boarding house” there. His father was out of the picture, but they met up from time to time later in life before he died in the ‘50s. My father was the youngest of several children. At some point when my father was 3 or 4, his Aunt Laura, Lavinia’s sister, realized that (a) George had some sort of educational potential, and (b) his current situation in Keystone was a bad one. Knowing the history of Keystone, we have our suspicions (unsubstantiated) that Lavinia ran more than a boarding house. Aunt Laura and her husband put George through catholic Jesuit boarding schools including Belmont Abbey. George then put himself through Xavier University in Cincinnati, followed by a stint in the army, and then put himself through Georgetown University Law School. He was always reluctant to look back- maybe afraid of what he might find. As far as I know, he never saw his family again. He did look in the phone book one time in the early ‘70s while at The Greenbrier, and found a listing for his mother, but could not call. My father passed away in 2017. I respect his wishes about not wanting to reconnect, but I know nothing of his family and it would be good to know where some of them ended up. Let me know if you think you could help. I have always marveled at “what could have been” had my father’s aunt not intervened...."
