"Lessie Ferguson, 94, died Monday in a local nursing home."She was born July 8, 1905 to James Elbert Walker and Nancy Lucinda (Brammer) Walker in Woolwine, Va. She attended school at Woolwine and Davie High School in Davie, W.Va.
"She was a nurse for Bluefield Sanitarium in Bluefield, W.Va., for 18 years. She worked in Mullens, W.Va., in ladies ready-to-wear for 18 years and Shawnee Care Center as activities director from 1969-1971.
"In 1931, she married Walter Ferguson . She was the activity director for the Oklahoma State Nursing Home Association for eight years and was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church.
"She and her husband owned a grocery store and she taught art two nights a week in both West Virginia and Oklahoma. She moved to Shawnee in 1965.
"She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James Wilburn Walker, daughter Connie Walker, stepson Walter Ferguson, brother Herman Walker and sisters Lorne Walker Mildred Mills.
"Survivors include stepson William R. Ferguson of Roanoke, W.Va., one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Juanita Walker of Shawnee, two sisters, Edith Thompson of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Geneva Belle Brewster of Twin Branch, W. Va., three grandchildren, Carolyn Romberg of Shawnee, James Micheal Walker of Shawnee and Sandra East of Mustang, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on April 16, 1933 a son of the late Hillard Proffitt and Nannie
Elizabeth Johnson Stacy. Ralph is a member of the Church of God in Jesus Name and the UMWA. He is preceded

"Linda Lou Payne Collings, 76, of Clear Fork, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017
at her home. She was born on February 7, 1941 in Landville, WV a daughter of the late Burb
Payne and Athleen Davis Payne Southard. Linda was a 1959 graduate of Baileysville High
School. She worked at various manufacturing facilities in Indiana, worked for Island Creek
Coal Company in Coal Mountain and worked at Clarice's Flower Shop in Gilbert. She became a
Christian in 1966 and she wrote a play called "Heaven, Hell and the Rapture" in the early 70's
and attended Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies were painting, sewing,
crafting, gardening, interior decorating and shopping. She is preceded in death by her
parents. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years Louis A. Collings; her children
Gregory (Debra ) Collings of Franklinton, NC, Tanya (Eddie) Stokes of Clear Fork and Shana
