"Zell Z. Taylor"Funeral service for Zell Z. Taylor, who passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007, will be Sunday, December 23, at 12:30 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd. Ormond Beach, with Minister Jim Smith officiating. Burial will immediately following services at Volusia Memorial Park.
"She is survived by her three daughters, Nina Louise, Tammy Pazmino, Ormond Beach, Barbara Herbrand, Holly Hill; son, Al Taylor, Port Orange; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. She was loved by her very best friend, Geri Workman.
"Ms. Taylor was born to a Native American lumberjack family in a home in rural West Virginia. No one knows what year she was born for there were no records kept. She completed the eighth grade. Her early years were spent dependent on mules and without electricity. A horsewoman out of necessity, she was skilled with a bullwhip and pistol. She pulled her family's existence out of the earth with bare hands. She ran moonshine for her husband, and she loved to fish, garden and mostly spend time with her children. She was the long-time wife of a coal miner and lost a beloved son in a coal mining accident. She watched her husband go off to war in Europe and her son to Vietnam. Fiercely protective and loyal, she raised her children with love and a stern hand which was seldom used. Mom also had a nickname of "Slick" due to her cunningness. She was a God-fearing and a Jesus- loving woman. She has gone home to be with her loved ones and God, bringing her cherished Bible. She will be missed very much. She was a fearless survivor and mother. Barbara will phone home.

Born on November 20, 1951 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of Madeline and the late Charles Penland."Debbi was a 1969 graduate of Gary High School. She was baptized at Long Point Missionary Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. Debbi married the love of her life, Danny Robert Walker on December 21, 1974. Debbi’s roles as a devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother was her proudest accomplishments. In her life as a homemaker, she and Danny had two beautiful daughters, Dana Michelle and Denise Renee. Debbi enjoyed traveling for family vacations and big holiday celebrations. She loved singing and participated in the church choir in her younger years. Debbi had a large social media presence spreading encouragement, scriptures, and adorable photos of her grandchildren. She loved roses and the rose garden Danny provided for her. Debbi was a breast cancer survivor and a supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13.
