"On Thursday, December 2, 2020 Dorothy S. Young Bigelow age 74, of Keystone, WV was called to her eternal home after being a patient in the Roanoke Carilion Hospital in Roanoke, VA. She was born June 26, 1946 in Welch, WV and the first born of seven children to Jane Mildred (Woody) and Adolphus Addison Young Sr., Dorothy grew up in Keystone and graduated in 1964 from Kimball High School. She relocated to Washington, DC where she met and married the late Wallace Bigelow Sr.. She lived in DC for 40 years and was employed by the Federal Government as a Contract Worker. After returning to Keystone in 2008, she accepted the Lord as her Savior and joined Lebanon AME Zion Church in Lebanon, VA. Later, she transferred her membership to the First AME Zion Church in Bluefield, WV, where she faithfully served as a member of the Home Mission Board, Women’s Home & Overseas’ Missionary Society, the Senior Choir and the Coordinator of the Children’s March of Dimes. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Vincent Bigelow. She leaves cherished memories to her daughter, Tracy Bigelow and two sons, Wallace “Bug” Bigelow Jr., and Brian (Michelle) Bigelow all of Washington, DC; four sisters: Clovia Thompson of Fort Washington, MD, Vondelere (Harold Sr.) Scott and Carlotta Young both of Keystone and Lisa L. (Eugene) Carrington of Macon, GA; two brothers, Samuel H. Young of Keystone and Adolphus A. (Justina) Young Jr., of Roanoke; two uncles, Charles Leavelle of Rocky Mount, VA and George Rufus Thomas of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; which includes her two caregivers, Jarrett Scott and Adolphus A. “Terry” Young III., and a special friend, Tish Myers of Keystone. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at First AME Zion Church in Bluefield with Pastor Harold Scott Jr., eulogist. Dorothy’s sons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. A Revolving Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, (to leave online condolences: gregory-pagefh.com.)
