She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ on Atwell Mountain.
"In addition to her parents, her stepfather, Lawrence Blevins; her husband, Sampy David Blevins; one daughter, Clara Frances Spencer; one brother, Clarence Nelson and one sister, Blanche Day preceded her in death.
"Survivors include six children, Fred Blevins and wife Agnes of Raeford, N.C., Ethel Hartnett and husband Jeff of Ft. "BLUEFIELD '97 Ralph M "Mickey" Mitchem, 72, of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Kimball, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, WV, after a short illness. Born May 6, 1943 in Eckman, WV, he was the son of the late Frank and Laura Ann Mitchem. Ralph was affiliated with the Church of God faith, was a retired coalminer from United Pocahontas Coal Co. at Algoma. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ralph was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was a resident of McDowell County most of his life. Other than his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by 2 sons, Kenny Mitchem and Samuel Mitchem; 4 brothers: Donald, James, Roy and David Mitchem; 3 sisters: Betty Graham, Bethel Graham and Earlene Rose. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Patricia Ann Cleary Mitchem of the home; 1 son, Ralph Mitchem Jr.; 1 stepson, Robert Bolen of Bluefield, WV; 2 daughters, Charlotte Collins and husband Gregory of Bluefield, WV and May Sherman of Kimball, WV. Ralph was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11 AM at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel in Northfork, WV with the Rev. Omar Burns officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV. Friends may call from 10 AM until the hour of service. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends."
