"Edward Lamont “Richard” Wade age 63, a life long resident of Wilcoe, WV, who departed this life on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Hilltop Nursing Center in Hilltop, WV, where he was a resident for the past year. Richard had prolonged health complications from an accidental fall at his home in May of 2019. Richard was born April 27, 1957 in Welch, WV and the son of the late Edward J. and Imelda A. (Harmon) Wade. Richard was a 1976 graduate of Gary High School. After graduating, he began working at U.S. Steel in Gary, WV, Goodson’s Supermarket in Welch, WV and was last employed as a laborer for the City of Gary for many years. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Wilcoe, and was baptized at the age of 13, under the pastoral ship of the late Rev. Ronald O. Dyer, Sr. Richard enjoyed being at home and watching his favorite Westerns on television. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys."In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hylton and Evelyn Harmon and paternal grandparents, Russell and Dorothy Wade; his brother-in-law, Lewis D. Cochran; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.
"Richard will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Rhonda L. (Bobby Brown) Wade of Washington, DC and Linda M. Cochran of Fayetteville, NC and his brother, Kevin A. (Kathy) Wade of the home; his nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children: Stephanie (Donald) McLeod of Fayetteville, Jermaine Wade of Washington, DC, Dwayne (Valerie) Cochran of Fayetteville and Brianna Ariel Wade of Bridgeport, WV; his great-nephews, Emmanuel, Darius and Gabriel McLeod, Jayden and Isaiah Cochran and great-niece, Kayla Cochran; also his nephews and niece: Joshua Hawkins, Evyn, Gage and Kyley Boone; great-nephew, Alex Hawkins and great-nieces, Skylinn and Kinsley Rivera; his uncle, Tyrone Harmon of Alexandria, VA and two aunts, Helen Thomas of Washington, DC and Damita Jo Swain of Welch, WV; several generations of cousins; which includes three special cousins: Robert Wade, Robert Nelson Walker and Ronnie Harmon Jr., and a host of neighbors and friends; which includes special friends and caregivers: George Carr, Sam Cannaday Jr. and Chantel Johnson, the Wilcoe Postmistress.
"A Graveside and Committal Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV, with Pastor David Cooper and Pastor Larry Hairston officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
