"Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Glynnis Vanover of the home and Susie Keene and husband JT of Coon Branch Mountain near Iaeger; one son, Lucas Matney Jr and wife Marsha of Coon Branch Mountain; grandson, Benny Matney of Washington State; sister, Rosie Davis and husband Tommy of North Carolina; brother, Shirley Ray Powell and Eunice of Bluefield; special friends whom he loved, Ronnie Shrader and wife Teresa, Danny Kennedy and wife Geraldine “Dena”, Quillin Bailey and wife Nancy and Bob Blankenship; special nieces Teresa Auville and husband Speedy and Mary Hagerman and husband Allen; and a host of additional nieces and nephews.
