" Eric Duane Presley 30, of Anawalt, WV, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at CAMC General in
Charleston, WV, following injuries sustained from an automobile accident earlier in the month.

"Born March 7, 1989 in Welch, WV, he was the son of Robert Earl Presley Jr. and Brenda Lee Hicks Presley.

"Eric was affiliated with the Christian faith. He was a 2007 graduate of Mount View High School.

"He began his employment history with Southwest Sanitation. He was an officer at Stevens
Correctional Facility. He was an EMT for the Anawalt Fire Department, worked with the
McDowell Ambulance Authority, Widener's Ambulance and was currently at State Road.

"He enjoyed all types of music and you could most always hear him singing a tune. He was an outgoing and cheerful person who enjoyed spreading laughter and spending time with his family.
Eric was a loving son, husband, father, friend and will always be remembered and missed
by those who knew him. Eric was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers fan and had been a
resident of McDowell County all his life.

"Eric was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Earl Presley Sr. and Willard Lee Hicks.

"Leaving to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 6 years, Tiffany Truhlar Presley
of Anawalt, WV. One daughter, Madison Marie Presley. Two sons, Eric Duane Presley Jr. and Landon
Carter Presley. Also, unborn daughter due in October, Paislee Elizabeth Presley. One sister, Nicole Jarvis and one brother, Brian Alan Presley. Special grandmothers, Helen Hicks and Shirley Presley. One uncle, James Edward Presley. Aunts, Margaret Hicks, Tammy Kolarich, Goldie Hicks, Ellen Claus, Rebecca Lewis, and Tammy Lynn Presley. "Ralph Eugene Whittington, 78, of Grandview, formerly of Oceana, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010 at the University Of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA following complications of pneumonia.

"He was born June 25, 1932 at North Wilkesboro, NC, the son of the late Thurman Whittington (Deceased) and Cora Bell Roberts-Whittington (Deceased).

"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son (Deceased), a brother, Homer Whittington (1937-1981) and a sister, Virginia Whittington (Deceased).

"Ralph served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He was married to Ruth Maynard-Whittington (B. 1933) of Kopperston, WV on December 23, 1954 in Kopperston, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1954, Page 317, Application Date: December 21, 1954). He lived at Kopperston for 40 years before moving to Grandview after retiring.

"He attended the First Southern Baptist Church Grandview. Ralph was employed by Eastern and Peabody Coal company where he enjoyed working for 33 ½ years, where he made lifelong friends. Ralph also was a member of Local Union 7604.

"His hobbies were camping, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

"Ralph is survived by his wife, Ruth Maynard-Whittington (B. 1933); two brothers, Euell Whittington and his wife, Loraine of Collinsville, VA and Clifford Whittington and his wife, Barbara of North Wilkesboro, NC.

"He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

"A celebration of Ralph's life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 2010, in the Evans Memorial Chapel with Pastor Richard Carbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

"Ruth Maynard Whittington, 91, of Oceana, West Virginia, formerly of Grandview and Kopperston, West Virginia, and Irmo, South Carolina, died Jan. 31, 2025, from complications of colon cancer.

"She was born March 29, 1933, to the late Bert Maynard and Edna Harmon Maynard. She spent much of her life in Wyoming County, West Virginia, where she married Ralph Eugene Whittington on Dec. 23, 1954. They built a life together in Kopperston before later moving to Grandview following Ralph's retirement. While living in Grandview, Ruth and Ralph attended First Southern Baptist Church.

"After Ralph's death in 2010, Ruth moved to Irmo, South Carolina, in 2015 before returning to Oceana.

"She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; their infant son; and her siblings Sadie Delong (1927–1983), Wade Maynard (1923–2003) and Edra Smith (1924–2021). She is survived by her sister, Lutia Lamb of Kopperston, as well as extended family.

"Ruth will be laid to rest at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, West Virginia, alongside Ralph. "
